Cut standards

Protection classes for cut protection gloves were previously assigned in Europe in accordance with standard EN 388:2003. Due to the continuous development of technical materials – so-called ‘high-performance fibres’ – it has become necessary to adjust the methods used to test and classify cut protective gloves. These changes have been implemented in standard EN 388:2016. In addition to the coup-test in accordance with EN 388:2003 the new test method in accordance with ISO 13997 has been introduced.

Glove materials

You may sometimes hear knit gloves referred to as a “13-gauge” or “18-gauge” glove. The term gauge simply refers to the size and type of needles used in a seamless knitting machine to produce a glove. The lower the gauge of a glove, the bulkier and less dexterous it is. The higher the gauge of a glove, the thinner and more dexterous and comfortable the glove can be.

HexArmor Helix 2076 – 13G HPPE/Fiberglass/Steel

A high-performance polyethylene yarn (HPPE) and fiberglass blend combined with steel yarn provides a high-cut knit material with the toughness of steel without compromising dexterity.
