Kappler Protective Clothing
Kappler started in Guntersville, Alabama, with just eight employees and six sewing machines in 1976. While George Kappler, the company’s founder, is still active within the business, his daughter Laura Kay runs it.
Kappler is now certified as a Woman-Owned Small Business in the US and continues to grow.
Delta Health and Safety Brings Kappler to South Africa
In 1995 Delta Health and Safety proudly brought disposable chemical suits to Southern Africa.
This started a successful partnership with Kappler, who continues to supply high-quality chemical PPE to SA.
Choosing Your Suit
Various fabrics, designs and seams are effective in different environments. Therefore, it is crucial to choose the correct suit to ensure end-user protection. Delta Health and Safety details the most important considerations so you can make the right choice.
Protective Fabric
Kappler has tested its fabrics for resistance to certain chemicals. Specific materials are appropriate for use around some substances and not others. Delta Health and Safety stocks suits in Kappler’s Zytron and Frontline fabrics.

Seam Strength
The strength of the seams on safety garments is vitally important. A gap or even just a loose thread can leave the end-user open to exposure. Kappler offers four different seam types for its protective garments.
Structure |
Application |
|
Serged |
Three threads interlock around the edges of two pieces of fabric | For particulates plus residual liquids to light splash where there’s no chance for no skin hazard |
Bound |
Two pieces of fabric joined by a piece of binding and stitched through all layers | For particulates plus residual liquids to light splash where skin hazard is involved and moderate splash for non-skin hazards |
Heat Sealed / Taped |
Serged seam is covered with seam tape and sealed with heat or adhesive | For particulates, moderate to heavy splash for skin hazards, and vapour hazards |
Ultrasonic |
Two fabric pieces ultrasonically welded to create a seam with no needle holes | For particulates and light to moderate liquid splash |
